A side view shows any fullness left under the nipple that a front view can hide.
Check the size and position of each areola, and whether both sides match.
Look around the edge of the areola and at the side of the chest for incision lines.
Light from above and flexed muscles add definition. Compare pairs lit and posed the same way.

Who it suits
Gynecomastia surgery, also called male breast reduction, can remove gland and fat; your surgeon examines you to tell them apart. Mayo Clinic’s October 2023 definition separates true gynecomastia, enlarged gland, from pseudogynecomastia, extra fat without enlarged gland. A photograph or nipple squeeze can’t diagnose either.

What it costs
Gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) averages $5,587 in surgeon’s fees, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) in 2023. Anesthesia, the operating room and other costs come on top. ASPS’s undated cost page repeats its 2023 surgeon/physician-fee figure.

Recovery
After gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction), Stanford Medicine suggests 5–7 days before desk work, depending on your comfort and operation. The Aesthetic Society gives 7–10 days before work after liposuction plus tissue removal. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) says final results may take 3–6 months.

Each result is tied to the practice that supplied or published it. Afters does not independently verify every consent record, image history, surgeon, or outcome. If a case matters to you, ask the practice who performed it, when the photos were taken, and whether the patient gave permission for publication.
The useful after photos are taken once swelling has settled. Early afters can look tight, high, or puffy. Ask when every photo was taken.
Start with befores that share relevant features, then compare consistent angles, similar starting point, natural transitions. Published examples help you form questions; they do not verify the treating provider or predict your outcome.
Your anatomy, skin, and treatment plan shape the outcome. Use these photos to find a direction, then ask a surgeon what is realistic for you.
Open the profile that published a result you like and compare several examples. Then ask who treated each case, whether it is comparable to yours, and how the image was documented.
Keep doing the homework

A few saved photos are enough. Choose results that feel right for your starting point and your taste, then bring them into a consultation. Nothing goes to a practice until you share it.
