Yes, tummy tucks often significantly improve back pain related to diastasis recti (separated abdominal muscles). Here's why: Separated muscles can't support your spine properly, leading to compensatory back strain. During a tummy tuck, we repair the muscle separation by stitching the rectus muscles back together (plication). Studies show 80%+ of patients with pre-operative back pain experience improvement. The restored core support reduces strain on your lower back. However, if your back pain has other causes (disc issues, etc.), a tummy tuck may not help. A proper evaluation can determine if your back pain is related to your abdominal wall.
