The fat cells removed during liposuction are permanently gone—they don't grow back. However, this doesn't mean you can't gain weight. If you gain a significant amount of weight after liposuction, the remaining fat cells can expand, and fat may deposit in other areas (like upper arms, back, or thighs). The key to maintaining results is a stable, healthy lifestyle. Most patients who maintain their weight see long-lasting, permanent improvements in their body contour.
