How long do dermal fillers last?
I got cheek filler and my provider said it would last a year, but it seems like it's fading at 6 months. Is that normal?

Filler longevity varies by product, treatment area, and individual metabolism. Here's a realistic guide: Lips: 6-9 months (high-movement area metabolizes filler faster). Cheeks: 9-18 months (depending on product—Voluma can last up to 2 years). Under-eyes: 12-18 months (lower-movement area). Jawline: 12-18 months. Nasolabial folds: 6-12 months. Your experience of fading at 6 months in the cheeks could be normal if a lighter product was used, or if you have a faster metabolism. Some patients simply metabolize HA filler faster than others—this is genetic and related to hyaluronidase enzyme activity. Athletes and people with very active lifestyles tend to break down filler faster. For longer-lasting cheek results, ask about Juvederm Voluma or Restylane Lyft, which are specifically formulated for deeper injection and longer duration. Also note that filler doesn't "disappear" all at once—it gradually reduces, so scheduling touch-ups before it's completely gone helps maintain a consistent look.
