Both FUE and FUT can produce excellent results—the best method depends on your specific needs. FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) harvests individual follicle units one at a time, leaving tiny dot scars scattered across the donor area. Advantages: no linear scar, shorter recovery, ability to wear very short hairstyles, less post-op discomfort. FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) removes a strip of scalp from the donor area, which is then divided into individual grafts. Advantages: can harvest more grafts in one session (important for extensive balding), often lower cost per graft, faster procedure. Key considerations: FUE is better if you want to keep hair short, have a tight scalp, or prefer shorter recovery. FUT is better if you need maximum grafts in one session or want to minimize cost. In terms of growth and final results, both methods are equivalent when performed by skilled surgeons. Many top surgeons offer both and will recommend based on your specific hair loss pattern, donor area quality, and goals.
